Embera

Privacy Policy

Last updated September 24, 2026

The short version: Embera is built to work almost entirely on your device. Your doses, stock, weight, and notes are stored locally. We don't run a server that collects your health data, and we've never sold or shared it with anyone.

What Embera stores, and where

Everything you log in Embera (doses, medication, stock, weight, symptom notes, nutrition entries, progress photos) is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. We do not operate a server or database that receives, stores, or has access to this information. If you delete the app, this data is gone from your device.

iCloud sync automatic

If iCloud is enabled on your device, your data is also synced between your own devices through your private iCloud account, using Apple's CloudKit. This data is only accessible to you, and it is never visible to us.

Apple Health optional

If you turn on Health sync in Settings, Embera reads your weight from Apple Health to keep your trend curve up to date, and writes weight you log in the app back to Apple Health. This only happens if you explicitly enable it, and it's handled entirely through Apple's HealthKit. We never see this data ourselves.

Barcode nutrition lookup optional

If you use the barcode scanner to look up a food product's nutrition facts, the barcode number is sent to Open Food Facts, a free, open, community-run product database. This is the only feature in Embera that sends something you typed or scanned. No other information about you or your logs is sent along with it.

Subscriptions

Embera Pro purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit and managed via RevenueCat, a subscription infrastructure provider. RevenueCat receives standard purchase and transaction data (like your anonymous App Store transaction ID and subscription status) needed to verify your purchase and keep Embera Pro unlocked across your devices. It does not receive your health data. See RevenueCat's privacy policy for details.

Anonymous usage statistics

To improve the app, Embera sends anonymous usage signals to TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service based in the EU. These signals only say which screen was reached or which button was tapped (for example "onboarding step 5 reached" or "subscription screen closed"). They never contain your health data: no medication, dose, weight, cycle, symptoms, notes or answers you give in the app. TelemetryDeck does not receive your name, your email or any advertising identifier, and it hashes the anonymous device identifier before storing anything, so signals cannot be linked back to you.

No accounts, no tracking, no ads

Notifications

If you enable reminders (dose, food noise, weight, protein/fiber), Embera schedules local notifications on your device using Apple's standard notification system. These are calculated and scheduled entirely on your device.

Deleting your data

You can delete your logged history at any time from Settings, or remove the app entirely to erase everything Embera has stored on your device.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes as the app evolves, we'll update this page and the "last updated" date above.
