Injection site rotation: definition

Blog · Updated September 26, 2026 · By the team building Embera

Short answer

Injection site rotation means changing where you inject each time. For GLP-1 pens, the listed areas are the stomach area (at least 2 inches from the belly button), the front of the thighs and the back of the upper arms, and the instructions ask you to change the site with each injection.

Site rotation is a simple habit: each shot goes in a different spot than the last one. A common order is left stomach, right stomach, left thigh, right thigh, left arm, right arm, then back to the start. Within one area, move the exact spot a little each time.
