Body map shown facing you: your left side is on the right. Follow the instructions that came with your medication for how and where to inject.

    How to use the chart

    1. Print it, or save it as a PDF, and keep it next to your pens.
    2. On shot day, use the site on that row and tick the box.
    3. Within one area, move the exact spot a little each time too.

The order goes left abdomen, right abdomen, left thigh, right thigh, left arm, right arm, then back to the start. It is the same rotation the Embera app suggests, and it spaces out each exact area by several weeks.

The sites, as listed in the instructions

    • Stomach area: at least 2 inches away from the belly button.
    • Thighs: the front of the thigh.
    • Upper arms: the back of the upper arm. Some leaflets say another person should give this one.

    Questions

    Why rotate injection sites?

The instructions for GLP-1 pens ask you to change your injection site with each injection. Changing the spot each time also keeps one area from taking every shot. A chart makes it easy to remember where you are in the rotation.

    Which sites can I use?

The instructions for Wegovy, Ozempic, Zepbound and Mounjaro list the stomach area (at least 2 inches from the belly button), the front of the thighs and the back of the upper arms. Some say the upper arm should be done by someone else. Check the leaflet that came with your medication.

Does the site change how well the medication works?

The prescribing information lists the stomach area, thighs and upper arms as options for these medications. If you have questions about a specific area, ask your pharmacist or prescriber.

Can I save the chart as a PDF?

Yes. Click Print chart, then choose Save as PDF as the printer. On iPhone, tap Print chart, then Share, then Save to Files.
