Planning math only. Your pharmacy and prescriber decide refills. Nothing you type here leaves your device.

How the date is worked out

Each dose you have left covers one more interval after your latest dose: 7 days for a weekly shot, 1 day for a daily pill. With 3 doses left and a latest shot on Tuesday, September 22, the doses on hand cover September 29, October 6 and October 13. The next shot, on October 20, needs new supply. With a 7 day refill time, you order by October 13.

For vials, the tool counts the full doses in each unopened vial (mg in the vial ÷ your prescribed dose, rounded down) and adds the doses left in the one you are using.

Why plan it at all

Refills can take longer than expected: a prescription that needs renewing, an insurance review, a pharmacy that is out of stock. Knowing the date a couple of weeks ahead leaves room for those delays, without keeping count in your head.

Questions

How is the run-out date calculated?

From your latest dose, the tool counts forward one interval (7 days for a weekly shot, 1 day for a daily pill) for each dose you have left. The date after the last one is when you need new supply.

What should I count as a dose left?

Doses you have not taken yet: unused single-dose pens, doses left in a multi-dose pen, pills left in the pack, or full doses left in your vials. Do not count the dose you just took.

How early should I order a refill?

It depends on your pharmacy, your insurance and whether your prescription needs a renewal. Pick the number of days your refills usually take. If shortages or prior authorizations have delayed you before, give yourself more time.

Does the calendar reminder send my data anywhere?

No. The file is created in your browser and saved to your device. Nothing you type on this page is sent to a server.

In the Embera app

Embera Pro counts down your pens or vials with every dose you log, shows your run-out date on the home screen and reminds you before you run low.
